Life has been Crazy, but good Crazy;)

Since I last made an entry I have made huge changes in my life. All for the better, yet very stressful.

I have left my position as Manager at my studio Full Circle to take a position with North Central College in Naperville where I am now the Assistant to the Fine Arts Department. I still am Co-Owner (which I am trying to change as well), but no longer involved on a day to day basis. That is the part that is most stressful for me. My business partner is a genious when it comes to music, production, engineering, but not so much an office man...lol.

My first week on the job at NCC was a whirlwind of activity. I had a lot to learn in a short amount of time. On my 6th day of employment I was "Thrown to the wolves", but in a good way. I excepted the challenge, believed I could handle it, and I did. It was a great confidence booster, as I was feeling quite vulnerable. I truly believe that if you believe in yourself and your abilities, anything is possible.

I will blog more about my experience as the liaison between The Pointer Sisters and the College, but in a nutshell, I took care of all their very "Specific" needs.

During this week, I also got an invitation to an offer from Glamour Magazine to "Represent" and Partner up with the Company "Plan B" and hit some shwanky beach parties on the East Coast. (The Hamptons, New Jersey Shore, and Rehoboth Beach to be precise:) The deal is I get to head out there for 2 or 3 weekends between July 4th and Sept. 6th. All expenses paid, plus pay. Not a bad deal for a fun weekend. I love being a Glambassador!
The catch is that I am not sure I could do 2 or 3, but I want to do at least 1. I have to wait and see what they say. The odd thing is that at precisely the same time, my husband may be on the opposite side of the country (LA to be exact) for possibly 2 months between July 19th and Sept. 2nd.

My son Danny graduates this Wed. from High School We have various Scholarship events we need to attend in his honor, one of my other sons moved to Normal, IL to take a position as a leasing agent, another son came home from Normal as school is out for the summer. So, not to much going on in my world right now....

I'll catch up with this blog soon. I promise!!!

Failing Miserably....

Well, my promise to myself to blog on a DAILY basis has definitely gone astray. As it stands now I am 10 days behind which equals 50 items I would need to catch up. While I am sure I can come up with 50 items that I am grateful for, it wouldn't be as genuine. I will instead list the first 10 that come to my mind from 3/17 to 3/25 (I plan on blogging at the end of the day tonight.)

1. Numerous offers for scholarships and grants for my son Danny's college.
2. Coaches that seem to genuinely care about my son and his academic career, not just as a player for the team.
3. The opportunity to apply for a position that I REALLY would like to get.
4. A positive note from the company I have already interviewed with expressing interest in me.
5. Some nice sunshiny days.
6. My Tulips pushing through the ground getting ready to fill my gardens with beautiful color.
7. My adorable puppy and her genuine, pure love for me when I walk in the door :)
8. My TAXES ARE DONE!!!!!
9. My FAFSA(s) are filed
10. MY TAXES ARE DONE!!!!:)

You have to understand... With me owning my own business and my husband being a self-employed entertainer, we have W-2's, W-3's, multiple 10-99's and the horrendous job of having to sort all the receipts, divvy up mileage amongst all the different accounts, etc... I first have to take care of all the business taxes before I can even start our personal taxes. I couldn't hand it over to an accountant if I wanted to until after I have that whole process accomplished. Once I have that all done and I get everything in order, I give it to my accountant to go over, make sure I am not forgetting anything, find deductions I might be missing, etc... and then pay him a lot to do so. It is the hardest non-paying position I have ever had. I have a great respect for anyone that willingly takes on this position as a career choice. I realize that a good acct. can make buku bucks, but you couldn't pay me enough....

That is all for now!

The Beginning of My Daily "Thankful" Journal

My Pastor's sermon truly hit me this past Sunday. He reminded us all of how easy it is to remember all the bad things that happen to us. How they seem to stick in your brain forever, but most of the good things seem to fade into our memory. As hard as some days (weeks, years!) seem, I have many good things to celebrate in my life, both big and small. So, starting today I will write down at least 5 things that I am thankful each day.

1. My puppy slept until 5:55a.m.
2. My daughters big hug and "happy to see me" attitude;)
3. My CLEAN kitchen! My son Jason took it upon himself to help out and really did a nice job. (This is really a big deal to me;)
4. I booked a couple sessions today.
5. My husbands love

I am going to keep these daily entries pretty simple for the most part. Then I will be more apt to complete them on a daily basis.

Peace out;)
